- **Event Description**: The Welwyn Wheelers Go-Ride Summer School is a cycling skills development course for 5- & 6-year-olds (or roughly older Reception to Year 2) designed to improve young riders' bike handling skills and build confidence.

The school is held over two consecutive mornings - Thursday 13th & Friday 14th August 2026 - from 9am-11am. It is designed to encourage younger children who are able to ride but not yet super-confident on their bikes to develop new skills and explore different aspects of riding.

Skills our British Cycling-qualified coaches help them develop are:
Getting on and getting off
Riding slowly with good control
Braking
Cornering
Climbing
Descending
Riding in a group
Riding one-handed
Gear selection and use, for those who have them.

The cost is £20 for two days.

Riders are expected to wear a helmet, be competent on a bike (any type of bike is OK), and be able to use their brakes. If your child is using stabilisers or is on a balance bike, they are not yet ready for this session.

Please be aware that this is not a drop-off session. Due to the age of your rider, a parent/carer is required to remain on site for the duration of the session.
