Haerenga Moana: voyages of separation, transformation, reconnection
You’re warmly invited to open The Performance Arcade 2026 with us on Wednesday 25 February, 6.00pm, on Wellington Waterfront behind Te Papa.
Now in its 16th year, Performance Arcade returns as a free gathering where performance art, live music, movement, sound, and video converge within a temporary architecture of shipping container. This vibrant site is a waka activated by more than 40 artists.
Opening night is a moment to pause before the rush: to acknowledge the artists, the journeys they carry, and the shared waters we’re about to enter together for our 2026 kaupapa - Haerenga Moana: journeys of separation, transformation, reconnection.
Join us to welcome the festival, feel the mauri of the site, and begin this voyage in good company.
Meet us at the DVB Music Stage, between Te Papa and Chaffers Marina.
Music on opening night includes Te Kahureremoa, Jitsvinger (from South Africa), Riki Gooch Pirihi, with UMU closing the evening.
