Level Three: Position Play
Welcome to position play, taught by improv tutor James Smith.
Mondays 6-8pm x8 weeks, starts July 15th @ Toi Poneke Arts Centre.
Discover a unique way of looking at scene work through the lens of the 4 scene positions. During this class, you will dive into the nitty gritty of each scene position (realistic, straight absurd, alternate reality, and character-driven) draw on all you have learned in previous levels and learn to perform the format – “The Deconstruction”.
The final performance for the term will once again be at our amazing class showcase for friends and family (Thursday 5th September).
This Class is open to those who have completed Level Two: Game of the Scene, or have experience from an oversea’s school (ie IO Chicago, The Improv Conspiracy Melbourne, etc. Please contact us to discuss)
About the teacher:
James discovered improv in 2013, and soon fell in love with both the art form, and the comedy. He trained with the Improv Conspiracy Melbourne upon returning to NZ co-founded BaseJump Improv to bring this exciting style of improv comedy to Wellington, where he is the current artistic director. In his spare time, you’ll find him in the kitchen toiling over a mean spag bol, or dabbling in the world of sketch comedy.
