The second of our 2 annual clean ups at our Project Baseline site. We will be cleaning up in collaboration with Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club. Come along and join in the fun!
This clean up will be dedicated to ocean warrior and friend Wade Doak - Rest In Peace my friend.
Date: Sunday 22nd September 2019
Time: 9.00am registrations open | 10.00am - 2.30pm clean-up
In May 2019 we pulled a record 1735 glass bottles (along with other rubbish) from this site and we intend to SMASH this record this time round but, we cant do it without your help!.
With so many bottles to be de-crittered we will need lots shore crew volunteers for this clean up! so WE NEED YOU!
Due to the conditions of this site Diver volunteers must be trained in full face masks and have 25 logged full face mask dives as well as over 50 logged dives in total.
If you plan to dive this clean up it is essential you get in touch with us prior so we can validate what equipment you have and your experience.
If you also have your own catch bag for collecting rubbish, please bring this along and ensure they are named.
If you would like to join in the fun and participate as part of the shore crew, you will need to make sure you are wearing fully covered shoes and bring a pair of gardening gloves....... also be prepared to get down and VERY dirty!
ALL PARTICIPANTS, SHORE CREW AND DIVERS, MUST REGISTER ON ARRIVAL.
This is a family friendly event and we welcome one and all. Please remember to bring your own water, snacks and weather appropriate gear.
The fantastic team from the Island Bay Marine Education Centre will also be on site to show you the weird and wonderful creatures we find, and help to educate you more on what we do!
If this event is cancelled due to weather, notification will be given on the Facebook page, the day before.
We can't wait to see you all there.
