His career began when he was a young chorister at Nelson Cathedral, and he’s been at the forefront of New Zealand's church music ever since. As the Cathedral's Director of Music, deputy conductor of the award-winning New Zealand Youth Choir and conductor of Wellington's acclaimed Tudor Consort, Michael has experienced significant changes in church music over recent years. 
Not surprisingly, he has much to say about these developments and can also reveal some interesting stories about former directors of Cathedral music since Old St Paul's closed in 1964. You're invited to hear Michael's talk, Celebrate the Music — the next event in the Friends of Wellington Cathedral's series to 7 FRIENDS Art @ the Cathedral — on Wednesday 22 July at 5.30 pm at the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul. The talk will last about an hour with light refreshments to follow.
