Prez Hall Youth Filmmaking Workshop

This workshop is for film-lovers and filmmakers age 10-18 interested in filmmaking.

Learn every apsect of filmmaking with professional filmmakers. This workshop will help you to develop and create a short, narrative or documentary which you can submit to our Wellfleet Youth Film Festival by August 22nd.

This year the 7th Annual Wellfleet Youth Film Festival takes place on Friday August 29th! It's open to youth filmmakers from all over! Many of our filmmaker teachers will be judges at the WYFF. So, take this opportunity to learn from the pros.

OUR TEACHERS

Lise Balk King is an Emmy® Award-nominated and Cinema Eye Honors-nominated documentary filmmaker and social impact producer. Her films include: In the Whale: The Greatest Fish Story Ever Told, Entangled: The Race to Save Right Whales From Extinction, Entwined, and Painting Time and the Town.

Screenwriter, TV writer and professor Claude Kerven teaches Smartphone Filmmaking. Claude won an Academy Award for Best Dramatic Student Film for "Candy Store and received an Emmy Award for his after school special, "Starstruck". He's directed over 25 short films for Saturday Night Live, including the much celebrated "Synchronized Swimmers." His most recent directorial work, "They Never Found Her," stars Madmen's Elisabeth Moss and Fargo's Peter Stormare. Claude co-wrote "Mortal Thoughts," for Columbia Pictures, starring Bruce Willis, Harvey Keitel and Demi Moore. Claude's bee the Chair of the 1-Year and 2-Year Filmmaking Programs at the New York Film Academy, for 30 years.

Music composer, songwriter, actor and director Dana Butterfly McCoy has garnered Cannes, New York, Los Angeles, Boston and Tornonto Festival awards for best original score. She’s acted, directed and edited various award-winning films and has had her songs placed in both wide release and independent features. Recently she won best song and musical at the United Solo Festival in New York City. Dana will be teaching Editing For Film and Music for Film will cover how to best choose or compose music, sound effects, and balance all audio components.

Actor director Mick Thyer recently wrapped shooting an episode of a TV series at the Hall. His films include 48 Hours and 1 Minute, Rene and Rooms. He acted in 14 TV and film roles include, The Long Dark Trail, Cheat, and After Judgment.

Actor director producer Paul Schuyler and his wife Jade have their own Cape-Cod based film company Wytshark Media. His own films include Red River Road, Runner, Wasted and The Tuna Goddess. His acting roles include Give or Take and They Are Mine!

Pro photographer turned first time documentary filmmaker Michael S. Koehler shares his wisdom as a first time, award-winning filmmaker of Spiritus: No Business Like Dough Business.

Mischa Richter is a TV/FIlm actor, photographer and I Am Town documentary director whose photograph of Amy Winehouse graced the cover of her album Back to Black. I Am Town is about Provincetown and his family's mult-generational connection to it. The Hollywood Reporter described it as "A delicate, elegaic work... anyone who ever fell in love with the place will be moved by the spiritual authenticity of his uniquely transporting meditation. "
