"description": "“Children are born with a sense of wonder and an affinity for Nature. Properly cultivated, these values can mature into ecological literacy, and eventually into sustainable patterns of living.”Zenobia Barlow, director, The Center for Ecoliteracy___________________________________________________________Helping to foster a connection between children and the natural world we inhabit, last year's Niagara Kid's Rock Club has joined forces with Niagara's Geopark. This child and youth club is committed to providing fun and enriching educational experiences with all things geoscience related! Rooted in the belief that knowledge and understanding is key to nurturing responsible stewardship, we dedicate ourselves to educating children and adults alike within the wondrous realm of Earth sciences. Our educational aim is to facilitate engaging and active learning opportunities with hands-on activities, presentations, and field trips throughout Niagara. We passionately believe that through this approach we can help our youth best connect with nature. With these objectives in mind, Geokids' further intention is that children will come to understand the direct relationship between a healthy environment, and a healthy society. Our focus on supporting and encouraging a child's inherent attraction to nature, sparking their curiosity, and fostering a lifelong sense of wonder about our extraordinary interconnected planet underscores our commitment to this endeavor.Providing opportunities to deepen children's awareness of our shared natural world, and to gain a sense and appreciation for this mutually dependent relationship between us and all of the nature that surrounds us is our aspiration. At the present time, the club is geared to children ages 4 to 14 - parents/guardians are welcome to participate.Annual registration fee: $40/child four years old and up.Children under four and parents/guardians arefree. This fee covers all monthly meetups, materials, and any field trips that may be scheduled throughout the year.Registration is open throughout the year.Registration is required."
