Join us for an afternoon of woodland wandering, stream exploring, and discovery. This isn’t a guided hike with a destination—it’s an invitation to slow down, follow your curiosity, and see what the forest has to reveal.

We’ll begin at the studio by creating our own field notebooks (or you’re welcome to bring a favorite journal from home). Then each family will choose a baggie of art supplies and a blanket to bring along on our adventure. I’ll provide all journals, bags, blankets, pencils, colored pencils, markers, and other journaling materials—you just bring a snack and appropriate footwear (or go barefoot!)

As we adventure through the woods, we’ll observe the plants, trees, birds, insects, animal tracks, fungi, and hidden treasures we encounter along the way. Periodically, you’ll hear the Journal Bell ring, signaling a chance to pause, spread out your blanket, and record what you’re interested in.

Draw what you see. Write what you wonder. Sketch a leaf. Make up a story about a fairy living under a mushroom. There is no right or wrong way to nature journal—it’s all about noticing what you notice!

There will be plenty of free play in the forest and streams: foraging nature treasures, climbing, building, splashing, imagining, and exploring at our own pace. You’ll also be invited to discover natural fairy doors tucked into trees and create stone pathways or leave gifts for the fae.
