Supporting ELLs in the Math Classroom

This one-day workshop, Supporting English Language Learners in the Math Classroom, focuses on practical strategies for making mathematics accessible and meaningful for multilingual learners. Centered around the Math Language Routines (MLRs) developed through Stanford's Understanding Language/Scale project, the workshop provides teachers with tools to integrate language development and mathematical thinking. Participants will explore routines such as "Stronger and Clearer Each Time," Three Reads", and "Compare and Connect" to promote student discourse, deepen understanding, and support academic language use. Through interactive activities, lesson planning, and analysis of student interactions, educators will learn how to create equitable, language-rich math environments that empower all students-especially english learners-to engage in rigorous, grade-level content.

Workshop Times: 8:30 – 3:30PM CDT (lunch is not provided, participants will have a one hour break for lunch)

CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations made more than 180 days prior to this event will receive a full refund minus a 10% processing fee. Cancellations made between 180 and 30 days of the event will receive a 50% refund minus a 10% processing fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 30 days of the event.

The deadline to register is July 25, 2025
