He also has a keen eye for discovering new talent, playing a key role in the careers of Celine Dion, Josh Groban and Michael Bublé.
Katharine McPhee has enjoyed a successful career since her run on American Idol. In 2007, her debut album reached #2 on the Billboard charts and produced the Top 30 gold record Over It. She later starred in the CBS spy-drama Scorpion, the NBC musical-drama Smash and the Netflix comedy series, Country Comfort. In spring 2018, she made her Broadway debut starring in the hit musical Waitress.
