Let me take this opportunity to introduce you to Droopy Basset Hound Rescue of Western Pennsylvania, Inc. (DBHR). Established in 1999, the group is an all-volunteer effort to save abandoned and mistreated Basset hounds for the love of the breed. Orphaned Bassets are put into foster care, where they are loved and cared for until permanent adoptive home can be found. DBHR also provides veterinary care, which includes vaccinations, heartworm and fecal tests as well as spaying or neutering. Occasionally these costs can be extraordinary, but Basset Hound Rescue is dedicated to the welfare of the breed, and when a rescued Basset is placed in a loving adoptive home to live the rest of his/her life, it makes it all worth it! Droopy Basset Rescue of Western PA, Inc. is also dedicated to education on such topics as pet overpopulation, proper nutrition and care, prevention of heartworm disease, and the necessity of spay/neuter programs. If there is a Basset hound in need anywhere in our country, we’re there to help!
SLOBBERFEST, is Droopy's largest yearly fundraiser and publicity push, and is being held this year on July 12th. What is a Slobberfest, you ask? It’s a gathering of over 400 like-minded individuals, and their hounds, who dedicate this day to financially supporting Droopy Basset Hound Rescue of Western Pennsylvania while enjoying silly Basset hound games, the raffles, the food and the camaraderie of our other supporters.
