Check in at the Visitor Center when you arrive!Join us on Saturday, November 29th from 10AM-12PM for a Winter Waterfowl Walk, where we will learn about many of Elkhorn Slough’s most iconic winter duck species, from the struggles they face in our rapidly changing world to identification tips that will help you level-up your birding skills.Elkhorn Slough is an important migratory stopover site along the Pacific Flyway, where many ducks and geese stop to rest and refuel before continuing on toward their wintering grounds. Some species, like the Bufflehead and American Wigeon, also remain here to overwinter before heading back north to breed. These waterfowl are integral icons of wetland habitats, carrying with them many valuable stories of conservation struggles and successes.We will be meeting in front of the Visitor Center at 1700 Elkhorn Road and will plan to walk about 2 miles on the Oak Marsh Loop.
