- **Event Description**: Join Groundwork East for the River Colne Volunteer Day! 

On Saturday 12th September, we will be hosting a series of volunteer activities for you to get involved in. Whether you are a seasoned volunteer or new, this is a great opportunity to help protect the River Colne, a rare chalk stream habitat. 

Activities: 

12.30-1.45pm-Tree Maintenance. 
An essential step to help maintain berms in the river. Help trim local trees and use the branches to create bundles of wood to stack into the berms in the river. 

2pm-3.15pm- Berms Maintenance.
We will get in the river to add the brushwood bundles to fortify the berms. These give the river shape and stability. 

3.30-4.30pm- River Fly survey.
Observe a Riverfly survey and learn how to identify different invertebrate species. There will be future opportunities to join an official training course to become a Riverfly surveyor. 

Please book the relevant timeslot for the activity you would like to join. This can be as many as you like. 

All equipment will be provided, please wear suitable clothing and footwear for being active outdoors.
