About the event

March 16th & 30th

Class: Gourmet & Clay – The Garlic Grater & Small Mixing Bowl Set

There is something deeply satisfying about preparing a meal using tools you crafted with your own hands. Join us for a creative, hands-on workshop where we blend the culinary arts with ceramic design to create the ultimate kitchen duo: a Ceramic Garlic Grater and a Spouted Mixing Bowl.

Whether you are a home chef looking to upgrade your kitchen tools or a total beginner looking for a fun creative outlet, this class is designed for you.

🥣 The Project

In this workshop, focus on hand-building, a technique that allows for beautiful, organic shapes and custom textures. You will create a two-piece set:

The Garlic Grater Plate: You will learn to carve or press a raised, textured center into a clay dish. This rough surface is perfect for grating fresh garlic into a puree, shredding ginger, or and hard cheeses—all while keeping your fingers safe!

The Mixing Bowl: To complete the set, you will craft a small companion bowl featuring a hand-pulled spout. This vessel is designed to nestle next to your grater, perfect for mixing olive oil, balsamic, herbs, and spices for bread dipping or salad dressings.

🛠️ What to Expect

This class is 100% beginner-friendly. No prior clay experience is needed!
Step-by-Step Guidance: Our instructor Rose will demonstrate every step.
Texture Techniques: You will experiment with different tools to create the "teeth" of your grater to ensure it is sharp enough to process food but smooth enough to wash easily.

Customization: You will have time to add personal flourishes to make the set truly yours.

🗓️ Class Logistics
Duration: 2 Hours
Materials: We provide the stoneware clay, all texture tools, glaze, aprons, and towels.
The Glazing Process: At the end of the workshop, you will select your glaze color from our studio test tiles. Our team will handle the drying, bisque firing, and final glaze firing for you.

Pickup: Pottery is a slow process! Your finished, food-safe pieces will be ready for pickup in approximately 2 weeks.

📝 Important Notes
Dress Code: Pottery is a tactile, messy business. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dusty (clay washes out easily!).

Come solo and meet new friends, or bring a date for a memorable night of making!
