🍄 Workshop: Sculpt Your Own Garden Gnome
Bring a little magic to your home or garden!
Join us for a whimsical, hands-on workshop where you’ll learn the art of handbuilding in clay. Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned "mud-slinger," this session will guide you through the process of creating a custom, one-of-a-kind garden gnome from scratch.
What You’ll Learn
In this 2-hour session, our instructors will walk you through the core techniques of ceramic sculpting. You will learn how to form a sturdy body and bring your character to life with iconic features like bulbous noses, flowing beards, and floppy hats. We will cover essential attachment techniques to ensure your gnome’s accessories stay put, along with surface decoration methods to add textures like knit patterns or wood grain using professional pottery tools.
The Process
You will spend the workshop sculpting your gnome from raw stoneware clay and adding color with our selection of vibrant underglazes. Once your masterpiece is complete, leave the rest to us! We will handle the drying and firing process in our kilns. Your finished, weatherproof garden guardian will be ready for pick-up in approximately 2–3 weeks.
Event Details
All clay, tools, glazes, and kiln firings are included in your session. Clay is messy, so we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting a little dusty, though it washes out easily.
Give Your Gnome a Story
Think about your gnome's personality before you arrive! Will yours be a grumpy traditionalist, a yoga-posing zen gnome, or perhaps a "zombie" gnome for the spookier side of the garden? Giving your character a "job" or a hobby helps make the sculpting process even more fun.
