Firewood Prep - Come Help Us!

🔥 Volunteers Needed for Firewood Prep for Fundraising! 🔥

Selling firewood is our biggest fundraiser, and Friends of Yellow River State Forest needs your help to make it happen! Many hands make light work — come lend a hand and support the forest we love.

Who can help?
Everyone is welcome! You don’t need to be a member of Friends of YRSF, and no experience is necessary. Kids old enough to help are welcome when accompanied by an adult. (All volunteers must complete a volunteer form annually.)

Where to meet:
Head to the wood staging area — drive in past the sawmills to the gate near the base of Firetower Road. Listen for the chainsaws and you’ll find us!

Safety first:
Anyone operating a chainsaw must wear safety chaps, as required by DNR guidelines. (Chaps will be provided, or you can bring your own.) There are many jobs that don't require operating a saw or splitter - no experience is necessary to come help!
