The play explores different types of relationships and what makes love real through four distinct wedding ceremonies
SANDY - Female, 40s-50s Owner/operator of Sandy's Chapel of Love in Las Vegas. Quirky, jaded, and deeply cynical after 17 years in the wedding business and four marriages to the same man. She's sarcastic and flaky, often playing mind games with customers to entertain herself. Despite her weariness, she's insightful about relationships and genuinely cares about people. Strong comedic timing essential. Appears in all four weddings.
BEV - Female, 30s-50s Community theater actress with a flair for drama. Presents herself as angry and vengeful in her first appearance but there's more beneath the surface. Romantic and vulnerable. Needs to balance comedic performance with genuine emotion. Appears in Weddings 1 and 4.
STAN - Male, 30s-50s Recently divorced with messy hair and outdated 70s wardrobe. Father to twin boys. Neurotic, self-absorbed, and genuinely angry. The actor returns briefly in Wedding 4 as the PRODUCER. Appears in Weddings 1 and 4.
JOHN - Male, 30s-50s Elvis impersonator and minister from a neighboring chapel. Performs ceremonies in full Elvis regalia with genuine commitment. Romantic, sweet-natured, and sincere - he truly believes in love despite working in Vegas. Must be able to do a convincing Elvis impression (singing preferred but not required). Warm, kind presence. Appears in Weddings 1 and 4.
VANESSA WELLS - Female, 50s Fading actress, formerly half of the famous "Surfin' Secret Agents" TV duo from 30 years ago. Vain, dramatic, and desperate to reclaim her former fame. Been married multiple times. Obsessed with beauty and aging. Narcissistic but vulnerable underneath. Strong physical comedy skills needed. Appears in Weddings 2 and 4.
BRYCE CANNON - Male, 50s Vanessa's co-star from their TV glory days. Equally vain, dramatic, and desperate for attention. Gay. Obsessed with his appearance. Lost his fortune and fell on hard times. Willing to do anything for publicity. Requires strong comedic presence and physicality. Appears in Weddings 2 and 4.
LOU - Male, 70s+ Gentle, earnest widower trying to return to work after 40 years of marriage. One of the first Elvis impersonators on the Strip decades ago. Somewhat out of touch with modern times but kind-hearted. His Elvis impression is dated and terrible. Unintentionally tactless but lovable. Needs warmth and comic vulnerability. Appears in Weddings 2 and 4.
MARVIN MARVEL - Male, 30s-50s Mild-mannered postal worker, obsessed with postal regulations and zip codes. Wears rumpled suits and bow ties. Eagle Scout, Sunday School teacher, library volunteer. Nerdy and rule-following but brave and principled when it matters. Must play sincerity with underlying strength. Appears in Weddings 3 and 4.
FIONA - Female, 30s-40s Tough woman covered in tattoos who wears leather. Recently released ex-con with a colorful past. Street-smart and foul-mouthed, but genuinely trying to reform herself. Has discovered new interests and dreams of a better life. Fiercely loyal and protective. Must balance toughness with vulnerability and surprising sweetness. Appears in Weddings 3 and 4.
FIST - Male, 30s-50s Intimidating, scary-looking ex-con with tattoos. Fiona's complicated connection from her past who shows up unexpectedly. Violent and tough exterior but surprisingly capable of tenderness. Illiterate but not stupid. Must be physically imposing but able to show heart. Appears in Weddings 3 and 4.
KEN - Male, 40s-60s Sandy's alcoholic husband who works as a minister at the chapel but is frequently drunk and unreliable. Never appears sober onstage - only appears very briefly at the very end. Small role.
