The Ancient Order of Hibernians is hosting its annual Communion Breakfast on April 26th. A hot Breakfast will be catered by West and Main, and the event will include Irish Step Dancing from the local O'Shea/Chaplin School of Dance. We will close with a reading of the 1916 Proclamation.
Our Gest speaker will be Dr. Timothy D. Hoyt. Tim has a lifelong fascination with Irish history, worked in West Belfast in 1982-1983 for a non-governmental service organization, and traveled to Dublin to conduct research in the archives. His work on the Irish revolution has been presented at universities and conferences in the US, UK, and Ireland. He is currently working on a book manuscript on the Irish Republican movement from 1909-1921, and is tentatively scheduled to give an address at a conference sponsored by the Military History Society of Ireland on the 100th anniversary of the Anglo-Irish ceasefire in July 2021. His most recent work on Irish history - a review of a new book on General Richard Mulcahy - can be found here: Richard Mulcahy From the Politics of War to the Politics of Peace, 1913-1924
