- **Event Description**: Named By Strangers was formed at Johnson State College in 1998 by Chad Dahlstrom and Andrew Lafrenz.  The two set out to write original music and soon formed a quartet with Adam Quinn and the late Ian Lamphere.  The band cut its teeth in Stowe at the Matterhorn and Rusty Nail and in the Mad River Valley at the Mad Mountain Tavern and the Blue tooth.  They earned the honor of being named House Band At Nectars in Burlington in 2004 and soon added percussionist Morgan Lamphere and Keyboardist Brian Lauri to round out the group.  The band released two albums in the mid 2000’s, “Gone” and a self titled release in 2005.  They were named a Band on the Verge by Relix Magazine in 2004.  NBS stopped touring in 2006 but reunited following the death of their drummer Ian Lamphere in 2013 and have been playing reunion shows ever since to support the IanFund, a charity created in Lamphere’s name to support victims of avalanches to to promote avalanche education and awareness.
