The Christmas season is celebrated by many countries around the world - with all of them having their own, unique traditions!  

Come join us as we venture into preparing, baking, and decorating a common French Christmastime Dessert – the Bûche De Noël!

This cake is designed to look like a Yule Log, reflecting the French tradition of burning a large Yule Log during winter solstice to bring good luck. 

Students will be measuring and mixing ingredients to make a thin chocolate cake and a whipped cream filling. After they have rolled their cake, students will use chocolate buttercream, meringue mushrooms, cranberries and fresh evergreen to decorate their log! Additionally, students will explore different French Christmas traditions with an activity in the class.

Where: Menard Center Commercial Kitchen in Wasilla

When: There are 2 sessions! Friday, December 5, 11:00am-1:30pm OR Sunday December 7, 11:00am-1:30pm

Suggested Age: There is a lot of mixing and folding ingredients in this class – recommended for 8 years old. Otherwise, please bring an older helper!

Cost: $125 - We are a direct bill vendor for Matsu Central, Twindly Bridge, IDEA, Raven, FOCUS and Cyberlynx. 

This class can tie to an ILP as Math, Social Studies, Art, or Life Skills

Meet the Yule Log Cake we will be preparing!

•	Chocolate Angel Food Cake – This cake is light and fluffy, with it’s rising agent being whipped egg whites
•	Freshly Whipped Cream – Students will whip their cream with a mixer to make it fresh
•	Chocolate Buttercream – Chocolate frosting (premade)
•	Crispy Meringue Mushrooms – Premade and baked before the class, but assembled by you in class
•	Sugared Evergreen and Sugared Fresh Cranberries – Dipped into simple syrup and coated in sugar by you
