Yoga for Black Lives | Event in Washington | AllEvents.in Yoga for Black Lives
Outdoor donation based yoga led by @YogiRachelB - founder of Evolving Lives Body and Mind held on Sunday's at Sunset.

About this Event

Thank you for taking a moment to check out this wonderful event series!

Starting Sunday, April 25th all the way until August 29th @YogiRachelb of @evolvinglivesbodymind will be hosting a weekly Donation Based Sunset Yoga session to support the movement of #blacklivesmatter.

WHY? The on-going violent acts of hatred and domestic terrorism are the result of long standing systematic racism. There is no quick solution to the complex problems that black and brown lives face individually, however, when individiauls who belive in justice can collectively join in a peaceful protest change can begin. This yoga series is designed as a space for us all to tune in to the present moment and listen to our inner voice, the one guiding us to, "be the change we wish to seek in the world", to activate against these challenges and affect change. This duty belongs to ALL OF US and we owe it to ourselves and to humanity. By taking an hour of your day to dedicate to your self-care via yoga you are preserving your self, you are unifiying with your community and taking a stand just through unification, an act of political warfare.

Class Description: 60 minute Power Vinyasa-style class focused on traditional yoga postures with a longer hold in foundational/grounding poses to support safety and alignment. You will connect your breath to your physical movement throughout this class. You will build internal heat with your breath while enjoying the challenge and intensity of flowing through class at slower yet intentional pace. All levels welcome.

Classes will be held on Sunday's at Sunset [see weekly calendar for updates and changes to times as the seasons change] and proceeds will be donated to the Equal Justice Initiative on the front lines in this fight for justice by supporting those wrongly incarcerated. To support their efforts to secure the safety and freedom of Black Lives your attendance and donation is needed.

Evolving Lives Body & Mind is a yoga business based in the DM(V) area with an emphasis on self-care, health and wellness.    What is it that fuels you? For me, it’s my passion for empowering others to evolve their lives, body (physically) and mind (mentally). That is what ELBM is all about, with yoga being the current forefront. As the founder, for years I have served as a helpful role in the lives of others from counseling to coaching, and teaching yoga for those seeking inspiration, help, and support.   Find more about what we're doing this week and learn more about ELBM at yogirachelb.wixsite.com/elbm
