Started in 1971 as the "Mayor's Arts Festival" with a $25,000 budget and 125,000 visitors. This music festival was renamed Bumbershoot in 1973 and quickly grew in size after that. Over the time it became a major annual arts and music festival in Washington held over Labor Day weekend. Hosted at the Seattle Center this site was originally built for the 1962 World's Fair, it’s one of North America's largest festivals.
