Admission is not required, as it's outside the gates.
Presented by Mercy Hospital Washington and the Washington Police Department, with volunteers from Boles, Affton, Pacific and High Ridge fire departments, MODOT, Franklin, Crawford, Gasconade County health departments, Youth in Need and The Community Partnership.
We will provide car seat checks and distribution, as needed, at the Washington Town and Country Fair. There will be a limited number of car seats available to distribute, though representatives will be available to help check that existing car seats are properly installed.
Approximately four out of five car seats are not properly installed and many people are not up to date on the recommendations/laws:
• Rear-facing car seat until 2 years old and/or 40 pounds.
• Child restraint forward-facing until age 4 and 40 pounds. Though, best practice says up to highest weight or height limits on the seat in the harness (some up to 65 pounds, so children up to 5-6 years old).
• After harnessed seat is outgrown, about 4-6 years old and possibly up to 12 years old (80 lbs., 4 ft., 9 in.), child should be in a booster seat, until they fit in the car’s seat with seatbelt fastened properly.
• In the back seat until age 13.
Please feel free to call with any questions; we look forward to seeing you at the event! Mercy's Nicki & Sara 636-239-8645 or Washington PD's Stephanie & Liz 636-390-1054.

In addition to car seat checks, our team will provide extra resources and caregivers tips to keep your baby sleeping safely! Did you know that babies should always be put to sleep on their back and that caregivers should remove all soft bedding, bumpers and toys from their sleep space?
