Join us for a unique and creative event that combines the art of Scherenschnitte with a celebration of love and remembrance! This workshop will take place on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2025, in honor of the Battle of Kettle Creek, fought on February 14, 1779.
What is Scherenschnitte?
Scherenschnitte is a traditional paper-cutting craft that originated in Switzerland and Germany, and became popular in America during the 18th century. This intricate art form allows you to create beautiful designs, which often reflect themes of nature, community, and patriotism.
During the workshop, we’ll explore the historical significance of Scherenschnitte as a form of artistic expression during the Revolutionary War, particularly tying it to the Battle of Kettle Creek. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own paper-cutting art that embodies themes of freedom and love, celebrating not just romantic connections but also the deep devotion to our country and communities during a time of struggle.
Let’s honor the brave patriots who fought for our ideals while connecting through crafted expressions of love this Valentine’s Day. Bring your friends and family for an afternoon of creativity, history, and heartfelt connections!
Fee: $8.00
