For many queer and trans people fleeing violence, safety remains fragile and incomplete.The Way Out: Justice in the Queer Search for Refuge explores what it means to seek refuge as an LGBTQ+ person today. Drawing on the lived experiences of displaced queer and trans people around the world, Rebecca Buxton and Samuel Ritholtz examine the limits of current asylum systems and ask a deeper question: what would justice for LGBTQ+ refugees actually look like?Dr. Rebecca Buxton is Senior Lecturer in Social and Political Philosophy at Bristol. She is co-author of The Way Out: Justice in the Queer Search for Refuge (2026) and the co-editor of The Philosopher Queens (2020).Dr. Sam Ritholtz is Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Politics of All Souls College, University of Oxford.
