June 20th from 1-3 pm we will be making a small 3-D pop-up book from a single sheet of paper. Each participant will add text and/or images as they wish.

Materials for the books will be provided.

Participants should bring scissors and a ruler. Please bring whatever dry art medium you prefer; markers, colored pencils, small rubber stamps, or magazines pages and glue for collage.

Take home a small artisan book and instructions for making it.

Your instructor is Washington's own Mary Patterson. Mary has been playing with paper since childhood, making small books and even doll furniture. She taught elementary children in several grades for many years, then retired and returned to playing with paper. At some time during the last 15 years, she began making small books again, took a few classes at the Amana Arts Guild, and then combined her skills and began teaching artisan book binding. Her favorite aspect of book binding was discovering how many different ways there are to make a book.
