Puuluup od zespół, który od ponad 10 lat jest na rosnącej fali popularności. W ubiegłym roku razem z hip-hopową grupą 5 Miinust reprezentowali Estonię na konkursie Eurowizji i dotarli do finału. Polska publiczność miała też okazję doświadczyć ich potężnej dawki energii na Off Festivalu. Zespół założyło dwóch entuzjastów talharpy - tradycyjnego folkowego instrumentu pochodzącego z tamtego regionu. Za sprawą eksperymentalnych technik elektronicznych talharpa zyskała drugie życie, stąd Puuluup często określają swoją muzykę żartobliwie jako zombie folk. Obecnie są jedną z najpopularniejszych estońskich formacji, szczególnie chwaloną za występy na żywo, wzbogacone o absurdalnie cudowną choreografię i suche poczucie humoru.

🇬🇧 Puuluup was formed in 2014 by two talharpa enthusiasts Ramo Teder and Marko Veisson. Ramo Teder is a multi-instrumentalist and has been known for his long solo project Pastacas. He is also a looping pioneer in Estonia and has mastered these skills for twenty years already. Marko Veisson has a background in anthropology and his fieldwork in Northern Ghana as well as his love for West-African music have definitely influenced Puuluup’s style. Both musicians were enchanted by talharpa’s sound, rich with overtones. But they also had a common wish to explore new musical possibilities for that ancient instrument. During their 10-year career they have experienced a continuous growth of popularity. While Puuluup started out at first more as a hobby project, it has become one of the biggest acts in Estonia. Puuluup is most praised for their live shows, which are enriched with elements of absurdly lovely choreography and dry humour. They regularly perform at festivals with varied musical genres. Their vibrant open-air live show for an audience of 10 thousand had elements of a “typical rock concert”, including stage diving and crowd chanting the lyrics.
