O zespole:
Założony przez utalentowanego multiinstrumentalistę i wokalistę Ablaya Badji zespół The Ablaye Badji Band wnosi żywiołowego ducha muzyki Afryki Zachodniej do globalnej publiczności. Ablaye wywodzi się z szanowanej rodziny griotów Cissoko z Ziguinchor w Senegalu – rodu cenionego za jego rolę w zachowywaniu i przekazywaniu muzycznych oraz ustnych tradycji ludu Mandinka. Dorastając w bogatym muzycznie środowisku, Ablaye od najmłodszych lat chłonął rytmy i historie swoich przodków, opanowując tradycyjne instrumenty, takie jak kora, djembe, sabar i seourouba.
Muzyczna podróż zaprowadziła Ablaya na międzynarodowe sceny – najpierw jako członka uznanego zespołu Golden Kora Band, a następnie jako niezależnego artystę. Po zamieszkaniu w Polsce ponad dekadę temu, Ablaye stał się znaczącą postacią na polskiej i europejskiej scenie muzyki świata. Ablaye jest ceniony za swoje dynamiczne występy na korze, ekspresyjny wokal i ducha współpracy, często łącząc siły z artystami różnych gatunków, by tworzyć nowe i inspirujące brzmienia.

About the band:
Founded by the talented multi-instrumentalist and singer Ablaye Badji, The Ablaye Badji Band brings the vibrant spirit of West African music to global audiences. Ablaye hails from the respected Cissoko griot family of Ziguinchor, Senegal—a lineage celebrated for its role in preserving and passing down the musical and oral traditions of the Mandinka people. Growing up in a musically rich environment, Ablaye absorbed the rhythms and stories of his ancestors from a young age, mastering traditional instruments such as the kora, djembe, sabar, and seourouba.
Ablaye’s musical journey led him to international stages as a member of the acclaimed Golden Kora Band, and later as an independent artist. Since relocating to Poland over a decade ago, he has become a prominent figure in the Polish and European world music scenes. Ablaye is known for his dynamic kora performances, expressive vocals, and collaborative spirit, often working with artists across genres to create new and inspiring sounds.
The Ablaye Badji Band is celebrated for its electrifying live shows, which blend traditional Senegalese music with contemporary influences such as jazz, funk, and blues. Ablaye’s deep respect for heritage is matched by his openness to experimentation, resulting in a truly global sound that resonates with diverse audiences. The band’s performances are a powerful testament to the richness of
cultural exchange and musical innovation!
