Concéntrico presents Concéntrico: Urban Innovation Laboratory (Park Books), co-edited by Javier Peña Ibáñez and Nick Axel, reflecting on more than a decade of experimental practices in public space developed through the international architecture and design festival based in Logroño, Spain.

The event will take place at ZODIAK Warsaw Pavilion of Architecture and will combine a book launch with a conversation between Javier Peña Ibáñez, founder and director of Concéntrico, and architect Jakub Szczęsny. The discussion will explore temporary architecture, urban experimentation, and public space as a testing ground for social, ecological, and cultural innovation, connecting the experience of Concéntrico with the contemporary architectural context in Warsaw.

Architect, curator and educator. Founder and director of Concéntrico, an international project that explores new relationships between architecture, design and public space. He also serves as artistic director of TAC! Festival of Urban Architecture, promoted by the Spanish Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda and Fundación Arquia, as well as curator of the Public Design Commissions programme for Design Doha 2026. Co-editor of Concéntrico: Urban Innovation Laboratory (Park Books). His work focuses on architecture and cultural innovation, with a special interest in temporary design as a tool for transforming collective space.

Jakub Szczęsny works on the verge of architecture, design and art. His interests revolve around the subjects of dichotomies and contrasts: intimate vs. public, unobvious vs. predictable, eventful play vs. work routine, among others. His permanent installations can be found in public spaces ranging from squares to museums in the USA (Saint Louis Science Center), Austria (KKL Museum in Sankt Pölten), Poland (Keret House), Palestine (The Lace in Ramallah), Israel (Tamaguchi Park in Bat Yam) and Kazakhstan (Gustaw Zieliński square in Astana). His temporary projects include a series of canopies (Casa do Povo in São Paulo and Lieblinghaus in Tel Aviv) and a set of modular objects named Taburete Towers after an installation he developed for the Concéntrico festival in the Spanish city of Logroño. In parallel, he designs abodes, both custom residencies for wealthier clientele to budget-optimized systems of prefabricated houses for Polish middle-class. Jakub lectures internationally and teaches at the Warsaw Institute of Technology (ASK programme). His books on the social aspects in architecture and design have been published by the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw and Wielka Litera publishing house. Jakub is the first Polish architect to have his project, Keret House, included in the collection of MoMA in New York.

International platform for architecture and design based in Logroño, Spain, developed as an urban innovation laboratory. Through temporary installations, exhibitions, educational programmes and public debates, the project investigates how architecture and design can activate public space, foster social interaction and respond to contemporary environmental and cultural challenges. Concéntrico operates both as an annual festival and as a year-round programme, connecting local contexts with international practices and institutions.

The event will take place on Wednesday, February 25, at 6:00 PM. All residents are welcome. Admission is free of charge. Additionally, no prior registration is required-simply show up and participate. The event will be held in English.

????????????? ?????????????:

The event will be held on the ground floor of the building, which is accessible directly from the sidewalk level. The entrance doors open automatically outwards. The building is fully accessible if you use a wheelchair or are traveling with a stroller. Inside, there is an elevator providing access to all floors. On the ground floor, near the meeting area, you will find restrooms, including a bathroom with a baby changing station adapted for people with mobility impairments.

• ????????: Our pavilion is located in the very heart of the city at Pasaż Stefana Wiecheckiego „Wiecha” 4, Warsaw. The entrance is located directly facing the square in front of the building.

• ?????? ?????????: Bus stops, tram stops, and a metro station are located just 250 meters from the building. All these stops are named „Centrum”.

• ???????: You can easily reach the pavilion via bike paths leading to Widok Street. We have provided 24 bicycle parking spaces right next to the building entrance.

• ???: We do not have a private parking lot, and direct vehicle access to the entrance is not possible. Please look for the nearest available parking spots on Widok Street. Additionally, there are 2 designated parking spaces for people with disabilities on Chmielna Street, in close proximity to the pavilion.

The building is equipped with clear directional signage and audible alarms to assist you in the event of an evacuation. There are 4 emergency exits on the ground floor for a quick exit. Once outside, please head to Pasaż Stefana Wiecheckiego „Wiecha”, as this is the designated assembly point.
