A fun and exciting day of workshops.
Sibo Bangoura, West African griot and master drummer, will bring his infectious smile, big energy and funky West African grooves to Lake Macquarie!
Join Djembe Alchemy and Sibo for some exciting West African drumming, dance and dundun workshops. Try the Open (all levels) drumming workshop or work up a sweat in the beginner friendly dance and dundun dance workshop, or if you’re up for it, challenge yourself and try out all three!
Where and for what levels?
Central to Lake Macquarie, Speers Point offers a great location for drummers (or wanna be drummers) and dancers from Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and the Hunter to gather, connect and experience the power of authentic African drumming and dance. These workshops are accessible to everyone in the Newcastle region.
Sibo Bangoura always brings great energy to his classes, they are fun, uplifting, vibrant and sure to be a good workout. They will challenge you mentally and physically, but don’t stress it’s all light hearted and plain old good fun. These workshops will accommodate all levels of drummers and dancers, so don’t be shy, give it a try with one of the best African drum and dance teachers in the country.

About Sibo Bangoura
Sibo Bangoura, a djembefola from Guinea in West Africa, passionately advocates his culture and music.
Growing up in a family of griots (West African storytellers and musicians), Sibo’s love for his heritage is palpable in his workshops and classes. These sessions are educational and a joyous celebration of West African rhythms, filled with energy and enthusiasm. Sibo ensures that each student receives personalized attention, guiding them through the accurate drumming techniques and the rich meanings and significance of the rhythms.
Sibo grew up in Matam – the heart of Guinea’s arts precinct. He currently lives in Sydney and has worked in China, Japan, Singapore & Thailand.
