A lovely spring walk with a bit of everything — woodland, open views, and that unmistakable scent of wild garlic in the air.

We’ll head slightly off the beaten track through woodland laden with wild garlic, with views of Corfe Castle 🏰 appearing at different points along the way — one of those walks that really reminds you why Dorset is so special.

🌿 Along the way, we’ll chat a little about foraging — how to safely pick wild garlic leaves (I’m definitely no chef, but think simple things like garlic butter or adding to meals!).
It’s all about doing it responsibly — only taking a few leaves from each plant, never digging up the bulbs, and leaving plenty so it can grow again next year (and for others to enjoy too).
And a simple safety tip — wild garlic smells strongly of garlic when crushed… if it doesn’t, don’t pick it (bluebells and lily of the valley can look similar and are toxic).

🌿 If you fancy collecting a few leaves, just bring a small bag or container and maybe some scissors/snips — easier than pulling and less damage to the plant.

🍰 We’ll also stop at The Cake House in East Creech — I can personally vouch for their excellent Dorset apple cake!

   •   Expensive if not a member

🚗 Alternative parking: Norden Car Park (BH20 5DW) – approx. £4.20
   •   Park at the far end (near the footpath)
   •   Enjoy a short walk along the railway and footpath down to the meeting point

🥾 Two climbs (not difficult), one steeper descent, and a mix of gates and stiles along the way

👟 Some uneven ground and woodland paths — sturdy footwear recommended

🐾 Dogs welcome, but please keep on leads where needed
