Katie West
=========
A powerful story teller, soulful singer and seasoned touring musician, Katie West takes her audience on a vivid journey through the American South and Midwest. Through her perfectly crafted lyrics, the listener experiences hurricanes in Louisiana, droughts on the prairie, and the restless life of a travelling performer.

Katie began her career in New Orleans, where she played wash tub bass and piano in the streets and clubs of the French Quarter. She performed with iconic figures of the Quarter, including Washboard Lissa and acclaimed songwriter, Grayson Capps. In 2003 she formed the popular Alt-Country duo, Truckstop Honeymoon, releasing ten albums and touring for twenty years across the US, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

She has so far put out four solo albums (two under the name 40 Watt Dreams). In addition to her own recordings, Katie appears as a multi-instrumentalist on over a hundred albums by other artists, playing upright bass, guitar, banjo and piano. She received a Phoenix award for lifetime contribution to the Arts from the city of Lawrence, Kansas.

Katie West Press:
"A voice for female empowerment… What Katie West does with her music is ensure that a woman can make statements without being chastised. It’s not about demanding respect and equality, it’s about expecting it, it’s about getting life’s hard knocks, one right after another, and becoming stronger for it." ~ Fally Afani, iheartlocalmusic, Kansas

"Her real power lies in the songs. She is a natural storyteller." ~ The Pitch, Kansas City

The Poor Box Brothers
===================
The Poor Box Brothers are Marc Clements and Ben W King. Having played with innumerable bands on the road for over 40 years (including session work with Ginger Baker, Andy Rourke of The Smiths, and Van Morrison) Marc decided to get back to basics with harmonica player, Ben, and play the music that inspired him as a teenager. Ben has been playing guitar for over a decade, having grown up listening to all kind of blues. He picked up the harmonica in recent years and hasn’t put it down since.

Stripped down to its basic constituents, a rural sound, this music sprung up in and around the Delta region of the US Deep South. Marc’s finger-picking style is known as ‘Piedmont’. Syncopated and dynamic, it has a kind of rag-time feel, with its origins in south-east Virginia and Atlanta. Ben’s sax-like harp playing reflects the music’s Delta origins. There’ll be some Chicago blues in the mix as well - the brothers aren’t hung up on labels!
