Purbeck Guitar Festival presents the Fretful Federation Mandolin Orchestra

Founded in 1995, this Brighton Mandolin Orchestra aims to revive the tradition of mandolin orchestras!

Mandolin orchestras were hugely popular in the UK up until the 1930s and the Fretful Federation hopes to see a revival of them in the UK!

The orchestra plays a wide range of material including exciting contemporary music by living composers as well as classical and popular pieces on mandolins, mandolas, guitars, cello and bass.

The group have performed in the UK and toured abroad. The Purbeck Festival concert will feature their usual eclectic and entertaining mix as well as Vivaldi’s fabulous Guitar Concerto in D with guest soloist Sam Brown, who is also performing at the festival on the night before, Thursday 26 June with Daniel Thompson.
