You’ll be welcomed with a lion’s mane cacao or coffee before diving into the history, folklore and modern science of mushrooms, and their long-standing role in traditional medicine.

Learn from expert forager Andy, founder of Jurassic Coast Mushrooms, as he shares his deep knowledge of native species, the importance of protecting them, and why locally grown fungi offer powerful health benefits. A guided woodland walk will introduce you to seasonal species, foraging ethics, identification tips and practical ways to work with what you find.

Back at Happy River, enjoy a nourishing fungi-inspired lunch while learning how each ingredient supports wellbeing and how to recreate the dishes at home. You’ll then gain practical skills including inoculating your own mushroom log to take home, preserving and drying mushrooms, understanding the most beneficial preparations, and making a dual-extracted tincture using a native bracket fungus.

The day weaves together ecology, nourishment and practical wisdom, leaving you with tangible creations, a deeper connection to the natural world, and the confidence to work with medicinal mushrooms safely and sustainably.
