Ditch the tarmac for 10 miles of Dorset’s finest. We’re weaving a path from Wool to Wareham, connecting the Hardy Way and the Purbeck Way through the lush Frome Valley and the rugged tracks of Wareham Forest. It’s a point-to-point adventure —perfectly timed for the Sunday morning shuttle. Run the trail, find the forest, and finish at the station

Wool to Wareham
Date: Sunday 22nd Feb.
Start Time: 09:20 sharp at Wool Train Station
Distance: ~10.5 Miles
Terrain: Trail (Hardy Way, Purbeck Way, Wareham Forest). Expect a mix of river paths, heathland, and potentially some muddy sections!
🚉 The Plan
We are running point-to-point from Wool to Wareham. To make this work, we are timing our start with the arrival of the first Sunday trains. Please read your relevant travel option below:
Option A: The "Wareham Shuttle" (Recommended for Drivers)
Drive to Wareham Train Station, park your car, and catch the train to the start. This means your car will be waiting for you at the finish line!
Park at: Wareham Station (BH20 4AS) by 08:50.
Catch Train: The 09:03 from Wareham, arriving in Wool at 09:09.
Finish: Run back to your car!
Option B: Train from the East (Poole/Bournemouth)
Catch Train: The 08:37 from Bournemouth (08:47 from Poole).
Arrive: Wool Station at 09:09.
Option C: Train from the West (Weymouth/Dorchester)
Catch Train: The 08:50 from Weymouth (09:01 from Dorchester South).
Arrive: Wool Station at 09:13.
📍 Meeting Point
We will meet on the station platform/exit at Wool at 09:15. We’ll do a quick headcount and head off immediately once the trains have arrived.
🎒 Logistics & Kit
Navigation: I will share the GPX route the day before. The trail follows parts of the Hardy Way and Purbeck Way.
Nutrition: Carry enough water and snacks for roughly 2 hours of trail running.
Finish Line: We will finish at Wareham Station. There are plenty of spots for a post-run coffee and food for those that have time after.
Note for Train Returners: If you didn't leave a car at Wareham, trains back to Wool/Bournemouth/Weymouth run roughly hourly from Wareham.
Terrain: This route is a "tale of two halves." The first half is lush river valley (potentially soft wet ground), and the second half is forest fire roads and sandy heathland tracks.
The River Piddle Crossing: Once we cross the Piddle onto the Wareham Forest Way, we are on the home stretch through the trees.
The Finish Line: We finish at the station. If people want to go to the Quay for food/drinks afterward, it is a further 0.7-mile walk/jog into town.
Parking: For those driving, your cars will be right there at the finish line.
