Welcome the Summer Solstice with a gentle, creative afternoon of making with tutor Katie Lambert. Join us on Saturday 20th June at 2pm for a relaxing workshop where you’ll create your own traditional Swedish midsummer dried flower wreath — perfect for decorating your front door, brightening your home, or bringing a little Scandinavian magic to your celebrations.

Inspired by the joyful floral traditions of Swedish 'Midsommar', this workshop is designed to be easy, calming, and fun. Whether you’re a seasoned maker or completely new to wreath‑making, you’ll enjoy a peaceful few hours working with beautiful dried flowers and natural materials.

What You’ll Make & Learn

During the session, you will:

-Create a beautiful dried flower wreath in the classic Swedish midsummer style
-Learn how to arrange and secure flowers for a balanced, long‑lasting design
-Explore colour, texture, and shape to personalise your wreath
-Discover tips and techniques for drying your own flowers at home, so you can continue creating long after the workshop ends
-You’ll leave with a finished wreath ready to hang on your door for the solstice — or to enjoy indoors as a summery, nature‑inspired decoration.

A Relaxing, Seasonal Workshop

This workshop is all about slowing down, enjoying the process, and connecting with the natural beauty of early summer. Expect a friendly atmosphere, gentle guidance, and plenty of space to make something that feels uniquely yours.

Our Tutor

Katie is crafty in many ways and has been running stained glass and other craft and wreath workshops at Southern Maltings over the last few months and her pupils are full of praise!

Katie is at heart a Stained Glass Artist has been practicing this traditional artform for over a decade and teaches all over the South East, London and East Anglia. Her studio is based on a travelling barge, where she makes art inspired by 1960s counter culture, employing trippy shapes and psychedelic hues to create fun and original pieces.

Additional Information:

The workshop is being run with a maximum capacity of 8 and will run for 3 hours from 2pm- 5pm on Saturday 20th June at a cost of £50 per head.

The session will be held in our main function space with access from Kibes Lane car park.
