Hunua's Giant Pumpkin Contest

Join Hūnua's Giant Pumpkin Growing Contest! The growing season begins this September/October 2025, and runs through until the Hunua School Country Fair on Saturday 28 March 2026.

We welcome participants of all ages and communities who want to be part of a fun, competitive, and distinctively country event!

With over 12 prize categories, there will be options for the whole family. Prize categories will include: heaviest pumpkin (students, and open age); oddest grown pumpkin; best decorated (cutest, scariest); and tastiest pumpkin treats for our baking and cooking afficionados!

Weigh in will take place as part of the Hunua School Country Fair & 150th Anniversary Celebrations, at Hunua School, with food, entertainment, and fun for the whole family.

The best bit? All proceeds from ticket sales go to Hunua School, which is celebrating its 150th Anniversary in 2026.
