Glossy Guardian Workshop

This free community workshop is part of the City of Moreton Bay funded Glossy Guardian Series and will cover the following topics:

• Glossy ID - Identification of Glossy Black-Cockatoos by sight and sound, how to differnentiate females, males and juveniles, Glossy Black-Cockatoo ecology and behaviour, and identifying and recording feed trees
• Flossy Photography - Learn how to capture the perfect photograph to successfuly ID a female Glossy (Flossy) in the wild
• Habitat Mapping - how citizen science is used to inform decision makers. What the new maps look like and how you can use them within your community

Speaker overview

Eric Anderson – Eric had 40 years in the Qld Dept of Primary Industries working as a research scientist in grazing lands. Retirement in 2004 allowed him to indulge in his passion for birds and the native flora such as spending periods as coordinator for Birdlife Southern Qld and President of Barung Landcare. Eric's most satisfying publication was when CSIRO Publishing published his book Plants of Central Qld in 2016. It was about this time he received the Order of Australia Award for significant contribution to conservation and the environment.

Who Should Come
This event is open to everyone — nature lovers, volunteers, birdwatchers, bushwalkers, photographers and anyone curious about the conservation of a vulnerably listed species.
