Hi I’m Chris, I’ve known Steve since primary school, causing plenty of havoc both in and out of the classroom. Over the years that friendship has only grown stronger, and I’ve been lucky enough to know Steph and see them build a wonderful family together.

When their daughter Freya was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour, I wanted to do whatever I could to support them through this incredibly difficult journey. This fundraiser is my way of standing by lifelong friends and helping ease even a small part of the burden they’re facing.

On 9th September 2025, Steve and Steph’s world was turned upside down when their beautiful 5-year-old daughter, Freya, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive brain cancer called Atypical Teratoid/Rhabdoid Tumour (AT/RT).

On the 12th September 2025, Freya endured an incredibly complexed 12-hour surgery at Birmingham Children’s Hospital to remove the tumour from her brain. Then completing her first five rounds of chemotherapy she has shown remarkable strength.

Freya then moved on to the next phase of her treatment, undergoing six weeks of proton beam therapy alongside her ongoing chemotherapy. This has meant the family temporarily relocating over 100 miles from home to be by Freya’s side throughout her treatment.

Now halfway through this stage, Freya is doing amazing — facing everything with courage, resilience, and a smile that continues to inspire everyone around her.

No parent should ever have to hear the words that their child’s life and theirs could be changed forever. This is where we, as a community, have the power to come together to raise funds that will help make Steve and Steph’s lives a little more comfortable, allowing them to focus on what truly matters most: being by Freya’s side through it all.

To support the family, we will be walking Snowdonia in April, raising funds to help Steve, Steph, Oscar, and Freya throughout their journey.
