Meet Jay Blades

Jay is well known as the host of BBC One’s successful ‘The Repair Shop’. He is the antithesis of the throwaway culture that surrounds us, believing that the old can become new, the worn can shine again, and the broken can be fixed.

Jay’s views on sustainability and supporting communities are very much aligned to ours. As the co-founder of former charities Street Dreams and Out of the Dark, Jay has been a huge source of motivation for thousands of disengaged and disadvantaged young people. He is passionate about supporting charitable causes that are close to his heart and loves the opportunity to get involved in projects that inspire change.

About The Host:
Welcome to Your Co-op, a family of businesses operated by The Midcounties Co-operative. We're the largest UK co-operative fully owned by its' members, therefore we're owned by you. With over 700,000 members, people are at the heart of everything we do. Our success is all about building great connections with our customers, member-owners and communities. We’re market leaders, and we’re proud of our wide range of services. We’re also proud of our great heritage. Our 150-year history makes us who we are today. We have a range of businesses across Travel, Food Retail, Childcare, Energy, Post Offices and Flexible Benefits. We operate more than 230 food retail stores in the UK, largely across the West Midlands, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. We also trade nationally through our Co-op Travel, Co-op Childcare, Co-op Energy and Phone Co-op businesses. Our co-operative values are at the heart of everything we do, and this means that the decisions we make are driven by our democratically-elected board and we are always informed by our members. Our members can earn a share of our profits every time they shop with us and get access to exclusive offers. But perhaps most importantly they have a direct say in the decisions we make, whether that’s shaping our long-term business strategy or choosing how we support their local communities. We’re committed to supporting the communities in which we operate, which involves working in partnership with local volunteers and community groups, but also choosing to trade in locations which where we know other retailers may decide that the financial opportunity isn’t great enough. These are often more remote and more economically deprived communities and we know that access to our stores is an essential service.Your Co-op. Owned By Our Members. Owned By You.
