Distance: 6.1 miles Hiking Time: 3.75 hours Elevation Gain: 2136 feet Difficulty: Moderate Plus, due to elevation gain Official Trail Use: Dogs not allowed Facilities: There are no restrooms at the trailhead. There is a restroom a 5-minute walk away from the trailhead at the Juniper Campground. You can also drive there before arriving at the trailhead. Thank you for understanding. SUMMARY: We will hike from the Diablo Valley Overlook to Mount Diablo North Peak. On the return, we will hike to the Mount Diablo summit, then back to the overlook parking lot. You can expect exceptional views on this hike. DIRECTIONS: -> Starting at the Diablo Valley Overlook parking lot, continue onto Juniper Trail for 0.2 miles.-> Turn right to stay on Juniper Trail for 0.6 miles.-> Turn right onto Summit Road for 0.4 miles.-> Turn right onto North Peak Trail for 1.1 miles.-> Continue straight onto North Peak Road at the intersection with Prospector's Gap Road to reach the North Peak Summit in 0.7 miles.-> To return, hike down North Peak Road for 0.7 miles.-> Turn right at the first junction after Prospector's Gap Road for 0.1 miles.-> Turn right onto Death Slide for 0.3 miles.-> Turn left onto Mary Bowerman Trail Loop for 0.2 miles.-> Turn right onto an unnamed trail to reach Mount Diablo summit in 0.2 miles.-> Proceed onto the Summit Trail for 0.1 miles.-> Turn right for a short distance onto Summit Road.-> Turn left at the first junction onto a road that passes by the Barbeque Area for 0.1 miles.-> At the end of this road, continue straight onto Juniper Trail to return to the parking lot in 1.0 miles.
