Ever wanted to learn how to be a fighter in a movie or theatrical production? This March, Walla Walla Summer Theatre is offering up a class like no other at their downtown studios. Broadway’s Assistant Fight Director Brad Willcuts and Top 20 in the world fencing master Rob Tobacco team up to present a class on theatrical stage combat for all ages and technique levels. Learn martial tactics as well as get to create your own fight choreography!
Requirements
Advanced registration is encouraged but not required. Space is limited.
Teaching Artists
Brad Willcuts
Brad Willcuts’ career spans Broadway, national tours, international productions, regional theaters, and the Metropolitan Opera. He served as Associate Director/Choreographer for the Dolly Parton musical Here You Come Again at Delaware Theatre Company, now touring the UK.
His Broadway and national tour credits include Amazing Grace (Assistant Fight and Military Movement Director). Internationally, he worked on Legende Holmes in Prague as Dance, Movement, and Fight Assistant. At the Metropolitan Opera, Brad was Assistant Violence Director for Porgy and Bess.
Additional credits include work with Shakespeare Theatre Company (Washington, DC), Bigfork Summer Theatre, San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre, and Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre. Brad serves on the committee for the National Alliance for Musical Theatre in New York and recently choreographed the world premiere of The Fantasticks at Flint Repertory Theatre.
He is an Associate Professor of Musical Theatre and Choreography at Michigan State University and serves as Head of Acting. Brad has received multiple awards and grants for excellence in education and performance innovation.
Robert Tabacco
Robert Tabacco, who has over 20 years of fencing training and several years of experience as a professional fencing coach. As the father of two small boys, he also has a natural ability to work with kids. When Robert himself was a boy, he was a fan of Star Wars, Thunder Cats, and He-Man. His parents noticed a sword-theme and let him try fencing. He loved it and never looked back. As an adult, he is excited to share this wonderful sport with a new generation of Jedi, Troll Hunter, and She-Ra fans.
