- **Event Description**: The Southern Maryland Sabres are proud to partner with the Washington Capitals and the Potomac Valley Amateur Hockey Association (PVAHA) as well as Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation for the fourth-annual DMV Girls Hockey Weekend and Try Hockey for Free event!

This exciting event is designed for kids ages 4–16 to experience the fun of hockey in a safe, welcoming, and high-energy environment with our amazing, trained coaching staff and our Sabres hockey team. Best of all — no hockey experience is needed!

Whether your child is stepping onto the ice for the very first time or just curious about the sport, we’ll have plenty of coaches and volunteers on hand to help every skater feel comfortable, confident, and excited. Our goal is to make this their BEST first hockey experience!

🏒 On-Ice Session: 12:50PM– 1:50PM
🕥 We recommend arriving by 12:15PM to allow time for fitting gear and getting ready for the ice.

After the on-ice fun, stick around for the girls hockey game and a chance to learn more about our amazing Lady Sabres program!

✨ What to Bring/Wear:
• Loose-fitting sweatpants or snow pants
• Gloves or mittens
• A helmet (a bike helmet will work just fine)
• A BIG smile! 😄

If you already have hockey equipment, feel free to bring it along!

✨ What We Provide:
We’ll have skates and a limited amount of hockey equipment available to borrow. If you have questions about equipment, we’re happy to help! (We encourage those who have access to equipment, to please bring it)

🏒 What to Expect On the Ice:
Our coaches will guide players through the basics of hockey in a fun and encouraging atmosphere. Kids will get to learn hockey skills, play games, and experience the excitement of being part of a team!
