About the presenter:  Debbie Suggs holds a bachelor’s degree in American History and a master’s degree in public administration. She works at the University of Rhode Island as the Director of Admission, Special Populations and serves as an instructor for College Unbound teaching courses related to history and culture. She has presented throughout the State on historical cemeteries, genealogy and local folklore and co-hosted the Bartholomew town special podcast Lives Less Ordinary.  She currently serves on the Rhode Island Historic Cemeteries Commission and is the chapter regent of the Narragansett-Cooke-Gaspee Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.   
As the nation approaches the America 250 commemoration, The Narragansett-Cooke-Gaspee Chapter remains steadfast in its commitment to preserving these sacred spaces through education, thoughtful restoration efforts, and meaningful community engagement—ensuring that southern Rhode Island’s patriotic stories continue to be remembered and honored for generations to come.
