- **Event Description**: South County Resistance will hold a silent sidewalk vigil to honor those who risked and lost their lives to defend democracy on Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol Building.

We honor this five-year anniversary and to affirm our commitment to the peaceful transfer of power and respect for the rule of law.

We will gather in a long line on Main Street, from Cherry Lane to Woodruff Ave. Participants will stand together in silence, holding lights, as a visible act of remembrance and resolve. This is a peaceful, nonconfrontational vigil. There will be no chanting or speeches. We ask participants to maintain silence for 28 minutes, the length of time the insurrection lasted. We will create a calm and respectful presence.

WHO: All are welcome who believe in democracy, truth, and peaceful civic action.

WHAT: Please bring a candle, lantern, or LED lights, and wear warm clothing.
