Even the smallest amount will make a difference.The Wakefield Community Foundation is working with partners to run The Wakefield Children's Bed Appeal to tackle 'bed poverty' in our district - the fact that thousands of children are going to bed without a proper bed of their own. It's estimated that around 6,000 children in the Wakefield district do not have a bed to sleep in each night. The appeal was started because a bed is more than just furniture: it affects a child's health, emotional well-being, school attendance and ability to thrive. For example a donation of about £150 can full cover a new bed, mattress, bedding and pyjamas for one child in need.
