Hold on to your hats (and berets)—Greg Abate is flying in from the U.S., saxes and flutes in tow, for a night of world-class jazz right here in Wakefield.
A graduate of Berklee and a former lead alto with Ray Charles’ orchestra (yes, that Ray Charles), Greg’s been tearing up the jazz scene for decades—whether fronting his own groups, playing with the Artie Shaw Orchestra, or touring the globe 225 days a year like the jazz world’s most melodious nomad.
From post-bop scorchers to soul-soaked ballads, Greg brings serious chops and a deep swing feel honed across countless jazz festivals, clubs, and international stages (including Moscow, Georgia… and Georgia the country).
He’ll be joined by a top-tier UK rhythm section:
Dave “Rocky” Tyas on drums
Dan Wieldon on piano
Gavin Barras on bass
Greg’s latest album, Gratitude, with the Tim Ray Trio, is getting rave reviews and plenty of airplay—but trust us, nothing beats hearing him live.
Doors open at 6:30pm. First set starts at 8pm, second set at 9:30pm
