One of the things I have come to appreciate most about being a sheep farmer is that the learning never ends. Every season is different. You get more confident, and there are more and more things that don't surprise you. But you are always reminded that to do this work is to be part of nature with all crazy complexity and curve balls. It keeps you on your toes!

In this journey, having mentors has been essential to me, and over the years it's also been rewarding to play that role for others. I decided it was time to put together a collaborative 2.5-day, hands-on workshop all about sheep husbandry. I'll be joined by some of the shepherdesses I most admire -- Mary Lake and Kathy Boyden, Meghan Giroux and others. We'll teach and learn about parasites, grazing management, fiber, animal handling, the pros and cons of AI breeding, silvopasture and so much more. And we'll get to take a break, fill our wells, help each other thrive. We'll end with a workshop and celebration feast on how to cook over fire with Jesse from The Shepherd's Hearth!
