Culture and Coastlines: Tides of Impact - Culture, Science, and Solutions to Plastic Pollution
Join us during Plastic Free July as we continue our new speaker series, Culture and Coastlines. This month's event will be an incredible presentation by Dr. Jenn Lynch. Dr. Lynch is Co-Director of Hawai‘i Pacific University’s Center for Marine Debris Research (CMDR) and a Research Faculty member in marine environmental chemistry. Her current research focuses on plastic pollution in Hawaiʻi’s coastal environments, with a special emphasis on Maui’s marine ecosystems. She leads groundbreaking studies on microplastics, ghost nets, and the toxic chemicals associated with marine debris. Through CMDR, Dr. Lynch is advancing science-based solutions to protect ocean health and the communities that rely on it. This in-person event will take place at the Maui Ocean Center. Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn from a nationally recognized expert about the impacts plastics are having on our marine environment and what we can do as a community to address this critical issue.
