Sinds 2011 is King of the World actief en bouwde de afgelopen jaren een behoorlijke reputatie op.
Ze brachten vijf albums uit: Can’t Go Home (2013), KOTW (2014), Live at Paradiso (2015), Cincinnati (2016) en Connected (2019).
Allemaal werden ze zowel in binnen- als buitenland positief ontvangen. Dit resulteerde in diverse optredens op onder andere North Sea Jazz Festival, Ribs ’n Blues, Paradiso en Hedon.
Ook werd de band uitgenodigd voor verschillende tv-optredens en radioshows, waaronder Pauw & Witteman, Derksen on the Road en Spijkers met Koppen. King of the World tourde niet alleen door Nederland, maar deed ook Duitsland, België, Oostenrijk, Zwitserland en Tsjechië aan.
Dat de band met name in het genre blues succes kent, is geen geheim. Zo won de band diverse Blues Awards en maar liefst zes noteringen in de 2017 Dutch Blues Top 100 aller tijden. King of the World is ook een graag geziene gast op het Bluesfestival in De Tamboer in Hoogeveen.
De huidige bezetting bestaat uit Ruud Weber, verantwoordelijk voor zang en bas.
Aangevuld door Govert van der Kolm (toetsen en zang) en Fokke de Jong (drum en zang).
De nieuwste aanwinst, waarmee de band zich heeft herontdekt, is Stef Delbaere (gitaar). Een fervent liefhebber van jazz- en blues en een waardige toevoeging aan de pure en gretige band!
